Third Period Comeback Lifts 'Tips Over Greyhounds

Everett, WA - The Everett Silvertips erased a two-goal third period deficit and earned coastal bragging rights Friday night at Comcast Arena as they defeated the Ontario Hockey League's Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds 3-2 in an exhibition game at the Holiday Inn Preseason Classic. Scott MacDonald scored twice in the third to tie the game and assisted on Clayton Cumiskey's game winner as the Silvertips opened the 2010 WHL preseason on a winning note.

The Greyhounds opened the scoring at 14:26 of the first period while on the power play when Brett Findlay swiped a puck past Everett goaltender Kent Simpson during a goalmouth scramble.

After a scoreless second period, Jake Carrick gave Sault Ste. Marie a two-goal lead when he scored at even strength at 5:05, snapping a rebound past Simpson from just inside the right faceoff dot. Everett pulled within one while shorthanded when Cumiskey stripped the puck from a Greyhound defender, feeding a wide open MacDonald, who drew within close range of Sault Ste. Marie goalie Bryce O'Hagan while on the power play, snapping the puck over his left shoulder to put the Silvertips on the scoreboard.
