Ryan Stokes Returns

(Toledo, OH) - The Toledo Walleye and Head Coach Nick Vitucci have announced today that they have signed defenseman Ryan Stokes to a contract for the 2010-11 season.

Stokes served as the first Captain in Walleye history when the 2009-10 season opened. In six professional seasons, Ryan has appeared in 362 contests with 268 of those at the American Hockey League level. He has scored 14 career goals, while adding 48 assists and 705 penalty minutes.

During last season, the Corruna, Ontario native skated in 32 contests with the Walleye, scoring a career high six goals. Ryan scored 2 goals, with 5 assists in a three game point streak from January 15th through the 17th. Stokes was a plus 13 in games skated with the Walleye. In 39 AHL games between Toronto, Grand Rapids, and Providence, Ryan collected 4 assists and finished a plus 5.

The Toledo Walleye will begin the regular season on Friday, October 15 at 7:00 PM in Wheeling. The home opener will be Saturday, October 16th at 7:00 pm when the Walleye host Wheeling at the Huntington Center. Ticket packages are on sale now and group outings are being reserved. The Toledo Walleye play all of their home games at the Huntington Center in downtown Toledo. The Walleye are the proud ECHL affiliate of the 2010 Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks and the Detroit Red Wings.
