Royals Sign Defenseman Maxime Renaud

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that the team has signed defenseman Maxime Renaud ["max EEM reh NO"]. Last season, Renaud (5'11/191) (21), who hails from St. Eustache, Quebec, began the season with the Acadie-Bathurst Titan of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, where he registered three assists and ten penalty minutes in twelve games. Renaud, who was selected as a co-captain of the Titan, was traded from Acadie-Bathurst to the Baie-Comeau Drakkar on October 19, 2009. Renaud then went on to lead Baie-Comeau defensemen in scoring, racking up nine goals and twenty-six assists (thirty-five points) and sixty-five penalty minutes in fifty-three games for the Drakkar. Renaud, who registered 100 points (19g-81a) and 273 penalty minutes in 246 total QMJHL games, tied for the league lead in plus-minus at plus-41 (+41) in sixty-three regular season games for Acadie-Bathurst in 2007-08. With the announced signing of Renaud, the Royals have now announced eleven players (six forwards, five defensemen) as signed for the 2010-11 season.
