-SPIKES FINISH ROAD TRIP TODAY: The State College Spikes face the Aberdeen IronBirds today in the final game of a three-game set at Ripken Stadium. The IronBirds lead the all-time series, 10-4. State College has now won two games at Ripken Stadium in its history. The Spikes will hit the three-quarters mark on the season after Sunday's game.
-LAST GAME: Tyler Waldron, Ryan Beckman and Brooks Pounders combined to hold the IronBirds hitless until David Anderson led off the ninth inning with a double, and Kelson Brown's leaping catch for the final out preserved a 1-0 win for the Spikes last night at Ripken Stadium. Gerlis Rodriguez knocked in the game's only run with an RBI triple in the sixth inning. Waldron did not allow a hit or walk in five innings of work to earn the win.
-SPIKES TURN TO VON ROSENBERG: Right-hander Zack Von Rosenberg makes his team-leading 12th start of the year today for State College. Although Von Rosenberg leads the league in losses, he has allowed just two runs in his last 20 innings on the hill, for an ERA of 0.90 since July 26. The 2009 sixth-rounder has gone at least five innings six times this year.
-MOORE GETS THE START FOR 'BIRDS: New York-Penn League All-Star Justin Moore gets the ball for Aberdeen today. Moore was named to the American League squad in Tuesday's Midsummer Classic three days ago as a replacement pitcher. The right-hander has been steady in his seven starts, never allowing more than three runs in any outing.
-THREE SPIKES NAMED TO NYPL ALL-STAR TEAM: Three Spikes will represent the club in the New York-Penn League All-Star Game on August 17th at Staten Island. Infielder Matt Curry, outfielder Adalberto Santos and left-handed pitcher Jhonathan Ramos will all be on the National League squad at the game. Curry is currently leading the league in on-base percentage in the NYPL with a .436 mark, and Santos is third in runs scored with 38.
