
Scott Carries Suns Past Mudcats on Friday

Jacksonville, Fla. - Lorenzo Scott finished three-for-five with a home run and four RBI leading the Jacksonville Suns (69-49, 29-19) to a 7-2 win over the Carolina Mudcats (51-66, 21-27) in front of 6,165 Friday night at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.
Tom Koehler (14-2) picked up the winning decision, allowing two runs and seven hits in his five inning limit. Mudcats starter James Avery (0-2) suffered the loss, allowing four runs and ten hits over six innings.
Carolina's Kris Negron led off the game with his 11th home run of the season for a 1-0 Mudcats lead. In the third inning, Negron led off with a double and scored on an errant pick off throw by catcher Chris Hatcher for a 2-0 game. Negron left the game shortly after the play at the play in which he slid into Hatcher's legs while scoring the run.
After recording only three singles in the first four innings against Avery, the Suns broke through in the fifth inning. Greg Burns led off with a pinch-hit triple to left-centerfield before Lorenzo Scott belted his fourth home run into the right field seats for a 2-2 score. With two outs, Matt Dominguez and Lee Mitchell singled before a Brandon Tripp single scored Dominguez for a 3-2 Suns lead.
With two out in the sixth inning, Ozzie Martinez singled and scored on a Vinny Rottino double for a 4-2 lead.
The Suns put the game away in the seventh inning. Mitchell doubled, Tim Torres reached on an error and Hatcher singled to load the bases. Jason Delaney recorded a pinch-hit sacrifice fly for a 5-2 score. Scott next singled home Torres and Hatcher for the 7-2 lead.
Suns RH Jose Rosario will face Mudcats RH Matt Klinker in game three of the series Saturday at 7:05 p.m. ET. The first 3,000 in attendance will receive a Logan Morrison bobblehead doll. $20 will buy a homeplate box seat and an 8 ounce, bacon-wrapped filet in "Steak Me Out to the Ballgame."
