San Antonio Rallies as 'Riders Continue Slide

San Antonio rallied for six runs in the top of eighth inning, beating Frisco 7-4 and sending the 'Riders to their fifth straight loss on Friday night.

With the score tied 4-4, center fielder Blake Tekotte hammered a three-run home run over the right field fence to give the Missions a 7-4 lead. 'Riders reliever Tim Murphy (0-1, 0.87) surrendered the home run and lost his first game with Frisco. He allowed four runs (0 ER) on four hits over 0.2 innings.

Richard Bleier started for Frisco and allowed three runs on eight hits over 7.1 innings, walking one while striking out four. A two-out RBI single by San Antonio catcher Luis Martinez in the top of the seventh inning snapped a 16.2 innings scoreless streak for Bleier.

Corey Kluber (6-6, 3.45) worked seven innings and picked up the win for the Missions, allowing four runs on nine hits. He walked one and struck out seven.

Designated hitter Johnny Whittleman put Frisco on the board in the bottom of the second inning, roping a two-run double to deep center field. Whittleman added an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning, putting the 'Riders up 3-1. He finished 2-4 on the night with three RBI.

The RoughRiders (57-46) will play the second game of a four-game series with San Antonio (49-55) on Saturday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
