Everett AquaSox News Release

The Everett AquaSox (0-1, 27-12) made four errors and gave up five unearned runs in a 7-0 loss to the Tri-City Dust Devils (1-0, 18-21) Wednesday night at Gesa Stadium.

The Dust Devils scored all seven runs off right-hander Eric Thomas (1-1, 5.03 ERA) in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings. Dust Devils reliever Eric Ferderico (2-2, 4.74 ERA) earned the victory with 2.1 scoreless innings.

Russell Wilson's RBI-triple in the sixth inning got the scoring started for the Dust Devils, and a fielding error later in the frame by Thomas added another Devils run. Wilson drove home two more in the seventh with an infield single.

The Dust Devils continued to rack up the runs on Thomas in the eighth inning. Jared Simon tripled to score two runs, followed immediately by a double off the bat of Dustin Garneau that scored another and left the score at 7-0.

Thomas, Evan Sharpley and Kevin Mailloux committed errors for the AquaSox. Mailloux had two bloopers in the same inning to aid the Dust Devils in the second-half opener.

AquaSox starter Tom Wilhelmsen was solid in his third outing of the season, tossing five innings and only allowing one hit while striking out six. Ogui Diaz recorded the final out with a strikeout.

The Sox bats were held to only six hits by the combination of four Tri-City pitchers. Robbie Anston went 2-for-3 with a walk and Steven Baron went 1-for-3 with a double to lead the sputtering Sox attack.

Game two of the five game series begins tomorrow at 7:15 p.m. as Chris Sorce (3-1, 4.42 ERA) takes on Joshua Mueller (1-0, 2.55 ERA).
