
Kernels sweep Dragons, 4-1 Jean Segura homers, double, 3 RBI

Dayton, OH - The Cedar Rapids Kernels completed a three game sweep of the Dayton Dragons by the score of 4-1 on Friday night at Fifth Third Field in Dayton, sending the Dragons to their 11th straight home loss. Jean Segura led the Kernel offense, going 2-3 with a double, home run and 3 RBI.
Kernels starter Tyler Skaggs (8-4) held Dayton to just four hits and struck out eight over five innings for the win. Tyler Kehrer worked the final four innings, giving up a run on four hits and striking out two for his fourth save. Dayton starter Tim Crabbe (2-2) allowed four runs on six hits, walked four and struck out five over 4 IP in taking the loss.
The Kernels scored three runs in the second inning as Justin Bass scored on a wild pitch and Jose Jimenez and Terrell Alliman scored on a two out double by Segura. Segura led off the fifth inning with a solo home run to left field, his fifth homer of the season. Ezequiel Infante replaced Crabbe after the first three batters in the fifth and held the Kernels hitless the rest of the game, striking out two.
Dayton scored in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI single by Andrew Means to score Jonathan Kaskow. With the win, the Kernels improve to 16-10 in the second half and 59-35 overall. Dayton falls to 8-17 and 38-57.
