Fort Wayne, IN - The Bees had their game shortened by rain for a second straight night, but they found themselves on the short end this time, falling 2-1 to Fort Wayne in seven innings on Saturday night at Parkview Field.

Keaton Hayenga (L, 1-8) became the second straight Bees pitcher to receive credit for a complete game, allowing two runs on three hits in six innings. He held the defending Midwest League champions scoreless until the fourth inning. After a one-out single from Jedd Gyorko, first baseman Nate Freiman blasted his 10th home run of the season to give Fort Wayne the 2-1 advantage.

The Bees' lone run came home in the first, when the Bees got to TinCaps starter Jose De Paula (W, 5-3) for three baserunners to open the game. Gerard Hall walked, Jose Bonilla dropped a bloop double inside the right field line by a foot, and Whit Merrifield legged out an infield single to drive home the lone Burlington tally.

De Paula held the Bees to a run on four hits with four strikeouts in five innings. Jeff Ibarra (S, 1) earned his first save of the season with a pair of scoreless frames with one hits and three strikeouts.

Bonilla led the offense with two hits, and Carlo Testa went 1-for-3 with a stolen base, his 20th of the season.

The Bees and TinCaps take the field for game two on Sunday afternoon at 3:05 p.m. Central time. Bees righty Sugar Ray Marimon will toe the slab against Fort Wayne southpaw Pedro Hernandez.
