
One Viper and Three Alumni Join NBA Summer League Rosters

MCALLEN, TEXAS - The NBA Development League Champion Rio Grande Valley Vipers announced today that center Mickell Gladness (6-11, 230, Alabama A&M) and guard Kenny Hasbrouck (6-3, 196, Siena) will play for the Miami Heat, guard Garrett Temple (6-5, 180, LSU) will play for the San Antonio Spurs and center Joey Dorsey (6-9, 265, Memphis) will play for the Toronto Raptors in the NBA Summer League starting tonight in Las Vegas.
Gladness averaged 4.1 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 41 games (six starts) during the regular season.
In 10 games (nine starts) with the Vipers, Hasbrouck averaged 16.9 points, 2.4 rebounds 2.9 assists and 1.6 steals per game while shooting 50.4% from the field, 38.1% from behind the arc and 80.6% from the foul line. He earned a GATORADE Call-Up to the Heat on March 16, signing two 10-day contracts before signing for the rest of the season.
Temple averaged 14.9 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.4 steals in 34.9 minutes over the course of 30 games and starts for the Vipers. He shot 42.7% from the field, 37.2% from behind the arc and 80.4% from the free throw line. Temple earned three GATORADE Call-Ups this season, signing with the Houston Rockets and Sacramento Kings before joining the Spurs. Temple averaged 5.0 points and 1.1 rebounds in 27 games (four starts) in the NBA. He also saw action in nine playoff games, averaging 0.7 points and 0.3 rebounds in 2.5 minutes of action.
Assigned to the Vipers by the Rockets at the start of NBA Development League Training Camp, Dorsey averaged 14.9 points, 13.3 rebounds and 1.38 blocks in 16 games. He led the league in field goal percentage at the time of his recall at 64.7% and rebounds per 48 minutes at 20.2. Dorsey recorded nine double-doubles. Dorsey was recalled on January 13 and was traded to the Kings on February 18. After getting waived on March 29, he signed with the Raptors on April 3. Dorsey averaged 1.5 points and 2.4 rebounds in 6.3 minutes over the course of 18 games in the NBA.
The Vipers have seven players and alumni competing in the NBA Summer League, including guard Antonio Anderson (Charlotte Bobcats and Denver Nuggets), guard Jonathan Wallace (NBA Development League Select Team) and guard Jermaine Taylor (Rockets). Anderson played 1:29 and recorded a +2 rating in an 85-83 win for the Bobcats over the Utah Jazz in Orlando on Monday, but has not played in three games since. The Bobcats wrap up their schedule today against the Orlando Magic while the Nuggets start their schedule against the Dallas Mavericks today in Las Vegas.
