Iowa Wolves News Release
NEW YORK, July 9, 2010 - An all-time high 116 players with NBA Development League experience will highlight the rosters of the 23 teams competing at the 2010 NBA Summer League when the desert classic tips off in Las Vegas this afternoon. The event features 58 games played over 10 days at the COX Pavilion and Thomas & Mack Center on the campus of the University of Nevada-Las Vegas.
Ten current or former Iowa Energy players will participate in the league. Former Iowa State star Curtis Stinson will suit up for the Toronto Raptors while former Energy standout Cartier Martin will play for the Washington Wizards. Stinson played for the Orlando Magic earlier this week in the Orlando Summer League, averaging 2.7 points and 4.3 assists through the first three games.
In addition to the ten players, Energy Head Coach Nick Nurse will lead the D-League Select team during the league. That team, comprised entirely of 2009-2010 NBA D-League players, includes Energy player Mark Tyndale.
"Having an all-time high number of players with NBA D-League experience on Summer League rosters are a true testament to the successes the NBA D-League has seen over the last nine years," said Chris Alpert, Vice President of Basketball Operations and Player Personnel for the NBA D-League. "It is encouraging to look at these rosters and see young players who took advantage of the NBA D-League to further their professional basketball careers."
NBA TV will air the full NBA Summer League schedule, including when the Select Team takes on the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday, July 13, at 6:00 p.m. ET, while offering live daily studio programming with NBA Game Time. Fans will also have the opportunity to watch the full slate of games in Las Vegas through the NBA SUMMER LEAGUE BROADBAND, a subscription service offering live NBA Summer League game webcasts via NBA.com/summerleaguebroadband. The complete package will be $14.95 for access to all Summer League games on a live basis as well as on a video-on-demand basis for up to one week following the conclusion of the League's final game. A late season package will also be available beginning on July 15, for $9.95.
