Tulsa Drillers News Release
The Tulsa Drillers will return home on Friday, May 21 for a short four-game homestand against the Springfield Cardinals.
The homestand is filled with promotions, including the popular Bark in the Park event on Sunday, May 23. Fans are encouraged to bring their dogs to ONEOK Field to enjoy the afternoon game.
Other promotions in the homestand will include Friday Night Fireworks on Friday, May 21 and an appearance from "Rally" on Saturday, May 22. The stand will conclude with Day Baseball on Monday, May 24. A complete listing of all promotions is below.
Tickets to all four games and any other games this season are now on sale at TulsaDrillers.com or at the ONEOK Field Ticket Office at 201. N. Elgin Avenue. Tickets can also be purchased by calling the Drillers Ticket Office at (918) 744-5901.
NEW FACES: The Tulsa roster features some new faces. Catcher Lars Davis has been assigned to the Drillers from extended spring training by Colorado Rockies, and outfielder Bronson Sardinha has been signed as a Free Agent by the Rockies. Sardinha is the brother of former Driller Duke Sardinha. The Drillers have also added infielder Eider Torres. Torres played eight games in the majors with the Baltimore Orioles in 2008. He has spent parts of four seasons in Triple A.
STARTING TO FEEL AT HOME: The Drillers have gone 4-4 in their past eight at ONEOK Field after winning only two of their first ten games at their new home.
LIGHTS OUT: Relief pitcher Scott Rice has not allowed a run in seven appearances at home. In those seven games he has given up only two hits in 10 and 1/3 innings of work. The southpaw is holding opposing hitters to a .059 batting average at ONEOK Field.
NOT SEEING RED: This upcoming series will be the last time Tulsa fans will see the Springfield Cardinals until the second half of the season. The Redbirds next game at ONEOK Field is scheduled for August 6.
HOME AWAY FROM HOME: The Drillers are playing only eleven home games during the month of May. They will spend plenty of time in Tulsa in the next two months as they have 15 home games slated for June and 17 in July.
Fans are also encouraged to try out for Drillers Idol on Saturday. Signups and auditions will take place from 4PM to 5PM at the Homeplate Entrance.
