Peguero's Three Homers Lift Jaxx Over Mobile

MOBILE, AL. (April 28, 2010) - Carlos Peguero blasted three homeruns and Joe Dunigan added a 3-run shot and the Diamond Jaxx (10-10) beat the BayBears (8-12) at Hank Aaron Stadium, 10-3. The Jaxx take four out of five from Mobile in the series before returning home on Thursday night. Carlos Peguero's 4-for-5 game was the Jaxx first three-homer game of the year and first four hit game of the season. Peguero is now tied with Jacksonville's Mike Stanton for the league lead with nine homers. Carlos also has an eight game hitting streak. West Tenn has won six of their last seven games.

Joe Dunigan was 3-for-4 in the game with a homer and three RBI. Mike Wilson was 1-for-4 with an RBI extending his hitting streak to seven games.

In Carlos Peguero's first at-bat in the leadoff spot this season he belted a Barry Enright pitch over the wall in right for his first homer of the game. The Southern League hitter of the week gave the Jaxx a 1-0 lead in the first inning.

Steven Hensley (2-1) earns the win for the Jaxx on Wednesday afternoon. In Hensley's fourth start he fired five innings while allowing just one run and struck out a season high eight hitters. Barry Enright (0-1) took the loss for Mobile.

The BayBears hit their first homer since the four long ball performances on Sunday to knot the score at 1-1 in the bottom of the third. Jake Wald hit the solo shot to left for Mobile.

West Tenn re-took the lead in the top of the fourth inning. Leury Bonilla led off the inning with a double off the left-center wall and came around to score on a RBI groundout by Mike Wilson.

Joe Dunigan blasted a 3-run homerun to left off of BayBears reliever Jeff Deitz, in the top of the seventh inning. The two out homer by Dunigan was his second of the season and provided West Tenn with a 5-1 lead.

The Jaxx extended their lead out to 8-1 in the top of the eighth inning. Carlos Peguero led off the inning with his second homer of the game. Leury Bonilla and Johan Limonta scored in the inning on wild pitches by Kyler Newby. The Jaxx opened up a 8-1 lead.

Mobile scored two runs on RBI singles from Konrad Schmidt and Ricardo Sosa in the bottom of the eighth inning to narrow the gap a bit to 8-3.

Peguero hit his third long ball of the game in the top of the ninth inning. The 2-run shot gave the Jaxx there final margin of 10-3.

The Jaxx open up a five-game homestand against the Montgomery Biscuits, beginning on Thursday night, 7:05 at Pringles Park. The Jaxx will send to the mound, RHP Dan Cortes (1-1, 7.36) while Montgomery counters with RHP Rayner Oliveros (0-1, 6.94). It is Dollar Night at Pringles Park on Thursday as well as Bethel University Night.
