TODAY'S GAME: This afternoon, the Bisons take on the Pawtucket Red Sox in the second game of a four-game series from McCoy Stadium (1:05 p.m.). The Herd lost 5-3 to Pawtucket last night in the series opener. Buffalo is now 1-2 on their six-game roadtrip that began with a two-game split in Rochester. Following Monday's contest, the Bisons will return home for an eight-game homestand against the Durham Bulls and the Louisville Bats.
vs. PAWSOX: The Bisons lead the season series, 2-1, over Pawtucket following a sweep of a rain-shortened two-game series at Coca-Cola Field, April 14-15. Buffalo collected wins of 8-2 and 3-2 (10 innings) to start year against the PawSox. Dating back to last season, the Bisons have now won seven of their last 11 meetings with the PawSox.
R.A. IS A-OKAY: RHP R.A. DICKEY has given the Bisons plenty of quality innings in his last two starts. On April 14 against the Red Sox, Dickey delivered the International League's only complete game in an 8-2 victory. He gave up just two runs and struck out five. In his last start, April 19 against the Yankees, Dickey worked eight strong innings and allowed just two runs on seven hits. However, he was the hard-luck loser in that game against the Yankees.
BOUNCE BACK BATS: Both C JOSH THOLE and INF RUBEN TEJADA are starting to heat up after slow starts. Thole had just one hit in his first 24 at-bats but has averaged .313 (5-16) on a four-game hit streak. Tejada had two hits in his first 25 Triple-A at-bats but also takes a four-game hit streak into today's game. Tejada has averaged .429 (6-14) and raised his average 120 points during his recent hot stretch.
SMOOTH CRIMINAL: OF JASON PRIDIE stole his fifth base of the year last night. He has yet to be caught stealing and has now stole 55 bases in 71 attempts dating back to 2008 (77% success rate).
LEADING OFF: OF JASON PRIDIE has been the catalyst for the Bisons offense this year. Pridie has led off six of the last eight games with a hit. That includes a lead-off home run on April 18 against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
METS UPDATE: The Mets (8-9) improved to 4-1 on their current homestand with a 5-2 victory over the Braves last night. Former Bisons' INF IKE DAVIS got the offense started for New York with his first career major league home run. INF DAVID WRIGHT also drove home two and INF JOSE REYES went 2-4 with a triple. The Mets host the Braves again today at 1:10 p.m.
