‘Birds outscored 28-6 Through Two Games of Series

Salisbury, Md. - The Delmarva Shorebirds (6-4) fell behind 5-0 after the third inning and lost for a second straight night, by a final of 13-4. The Shorebirds managed ten hits in a losing effort. The Suns have plated 28 runs through two games of the series.

The Suns jumped out to an early lead in the second on a two-run homer by Marcus Jones over the left field wall. They tacked on three more runs in the third inning. The big hit in the frame was a two-run single to right center field by Destin Hood.

The Shorebirds chipped into the deficit in the bottom of the third. Garabez Rosa and T.J. Baxter notched back-to-back singles. Following a sacrifice bunt by Ty Kelly to put runners at second and third, Levi Carolus hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Rosa. Tyler Kolodny, who ended the night a double shy of the cycle, hit a triple to score Baxter.

The Suns plated four runs in the fourth inning to establish a 9-2 lead. They went onto score one in the sixth, two in the seventh and one more in the ninth. Following a 19-hit performance in game one, the Suns recorded 15 hits in game two.

The Shorebirds scored two more runs in the sixth inning. Tyler Kolodny hit a line drive homer over the left field wall to start the inning. He leads the South Atlantic League with four home runs. Brian Conley smoked a triple to right-center field. He came into score on a ground out by Mikey Planeta.

Hagerstown starter Paul Demny earned his first win of the season in five strong innings. He allowed five hits and two runs. ‘Birds starter Tony Butler was pinned with the loss in three innings. He surrendered five hits and five runs.

The Shorebirds remain in first place in the Northern division of the South Atlantic League.

RHP Ryan Berry makes his third start of the season on Sunday afternoon at 2:05 p.m.
