30 Win Season

Two victories last week have pushed the Black Hawks to the 30-win mark. The 2009-2010 season is the sixth in eight years under P.K. O'Handley during which the franchise has earned the milestone. The only other time it has happened during Waterloo's junior hockey era was in 1993-1994 under Scott Mikesch.

Back-to-Back Blank-ings

Will Yanakeff and the Hawks shutout Des Moines 4-0 Friday, then defeated Cedar Rapids by the same score Saturday. It was the first time this season that Waterloo has enjoyed back-to-back shutouts. The last time it happened, Parker Milner whitewashed Cedar Rapids 5-0 and then Sioux City 3-0 in March of 2009.

Going for the Lead

With two games remaining, Black Hawks players have the opportunity to finish at the top of the USHL in a few statistical categories. At 34 goals, Tyler Barnes is one off the league pace. J.T. Brown has 33. Brown and Brock Montpetit are each +34, two behind the league leader in plus-minus. Brown also has an outside chance to contend for the league points lead, currently at 74, six behind Tri City's Jaden Schwartz.
