Omaha Lancers News Release
OMAHA, NE - The Omaha Lancers in conjunction with the United States Hockey League (USHL) are pleased to announce that Lancers' defenseman Justin Holl has been named CCM Defensive Player of the Week for Week 25 of the 2009-2010 season. It's the seventh time this season a Lancers player has been recognized by the USHL's weekly honors joining goaltender Jeff Teglia (3 times), forward Matt White and fellow blue-liners CJ Ludwig and Mathieu Brisson.
After being held without a point in Wednesday's 5-4 shootout loss to the Fargo Force, Holl was one of three Lancers to register multiple points in Friday's 6-1 victory over the Youngstown Phantoms. The native of Tonka Bay, Minnesota registered his first career USHL point with a shorthanded assist on the game's opening marker. Holl then set up the game's final marker with a primary assist on Omaha's second power play goal of the evening. The 18-year-old defenseman replicated that stellar production 24 hours later as he popped home a pair of power play assists in Omaha's 5-2 win over the Sioux Falls Stampede on Saturday.
In just three games since joining the Lancers full-time, Holl has registered four assists and a +4 rating helping Omaha post a 2-0-1 record overall since his arrival.
The West Division-leading Omaha Lancers (38-12-6, 82 Pts.) return to action Friday evening as they welcome the Tri-City Storm to the Omaha Civic Auditorium in a potential postseason preview. Tri-City (26-23-6, 58 Pts.) currently occupies the fourth and final playoff spot in the West Division. Opening face off is scheduled for 7:05 PM. Tickets are currently available through the Qwest Center Box office from 10 AM - 6 PM and will also be on sale beginning tomorrow morning at 10 AM at the Omaha Civic Auditorium Box Office. Tickets can also always be purchased through www.ticketmaster.com.
