Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
Four Scores and More than Eight Years Ago
J.T. Brown's four goals on Friday versus Des Moines are more than any Black Hawk has recorded in a single game since P.K. O'Handley took the helm in 2002-2003. Brown was two goals shy of the franchise record recorded by Mike Duffey when he scored six times against the Buccaneers on February 26, 1983. Brown did match the largest goal-scoring performance in the league this season; Erik Haula of the Omaha Lancers previously scored four against the Hawks on November 6th.
Shorthanded Stats
Saturday in Cedar Rapids, the Black Hawks scored and allowed a shorthanded goal. Although earlier this season "shorties" were a regular occurrence, they had been rare lately. The last previous one against the Hawks came on February 12th, while the most recent one for Waterloo was on December 18th. The Hawks have scored six shorthanded goals (four versus Cedar Rapids), while allowing a league-high 14.
Five in Five-of-Six
Opposing teams have been putting the puck in the net with frustrating regularity of late, but the Hawks have still been able to pick up some victories. Waterloo has allowed at least five goals in five of the last six games. However, the Hawks have still won twice in those affairs, Friday against Des Moines and March 9th at Lincoln.
Doubling their Fun
During the Black Hawks win Friday, Scott Wamsganz recorded a goal and an assist, while Andrew Panzarella picked up two assists. For both, it was the first multipoint game of their USHL careers. Wamsganz, a rookie forward, now has nine points this year. Panzarella is a third-year USHL defenseman and played his first two seasons as a member of the Buccaneers.
