Condors Weekly: Condors Return Home For Three Games

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors stumbled in a five-game series against Las Vegas last week, dropping four of the five contests and having the Wranglers move within two points of the Condors in the Pacific Division standings. Bakersfield's overall record is 32-25-4-1 with 69 points in the standings. The Condors own the 2nd-highest point total in the National Conference, but the six teams below them are all within just six points.

CONDORS 5 vs. Las Vegas 2

Attn: 3,645

The Condors scored three times in the second period and added two in the third to cruise to a 5-2 win over Las Vegas on Tuesday night. F Gino Guyer scored twice while D Eric Regan had 1g-1a in the win. G Timo Pielmeier stopped 33 shots for his 21st victory of the season.

Wednesday, Mar. 10

Las Vegas 3 vs. CONDORS 2

Attn: 3,306

C Adam Naglich and F Gino Guyer scored first period goals, but the Wranglers scored once in the second and once early in the third to tie the game up. RW Alex Bourret then scored the game winner with just 47 seconds remaining in regulation to take the comeback victory.

Friday, Mar. 12

LAS VEGAS 5 vs. Condors 4

The Condors led 1-0 and 3-2 in a back-and-forth affair on Friday, but eventually fell to the Wranglers 5-4 on Friday. The teams combined for five power play goals, and three of the four

Bakersfield goals were scored by players making their Condors debut - F Mark Voakes, D Scott Marchesi and F Dan Kissel. The Condors out-shot Vegas 35-28 in the game.

Saturday, Mar. 13

LAS VEGAS 6 vs. Condors 2

The Wranglers scored the first four goals of the game and G Jimmy Spratt made 35 saves in a 6-2 win on Saturday. D Scott Marchesi scored his second goal in as many games with the team, and RW Nick Kemp added his 7th of the season for Bakersfield. G Tyler Sims started the game between the pipes, and was relieved by G Timo Pielmeier.

Sunday, Mar. 14

LAS VEGAS 6 vs. Condors 3

The Condors fought back from 1-0 and 3-1 deficits to tie the game up, only to have the Wranglers score three times in the final seven minutes of the game to take the win. F Mark Voakes, D Eric Regan and F Stephane Goulet each lit the lamp in the Condors during the season series finale against the Wranglers.

PLAYER AND TEAM NOTES:

* The Condors are just three wins shy of tying the team record for home wins (24, 2005-06). They have five home games remaining.

* Newcomers F Mark Voakes and D Scott Marchesi, acquired last week in a trade with Cincinnati, both scored twice over the weekend for Bakersfield.

* F Dan Kissel became the 11th player this season to record his first

career goal with the Condors, scoring Friday.

* At 2,675 minutes, G Timo Pielmeier has the fourth-highest single season total in Condors history. The team record is 3,316 minutes by Kevin St. Pierre in 2002-03.

* D Eric Regan ranks 3rd on the team with 15 goals this season. It's the 2nd highest single season goal total in Condors history for a defenseman (Kevin Truelson, 17). The highest a defenseman had ever finished on a Condors team in goals is 6th (Truelson, 2007-08).

* Only one team has had fewer power plays this season than Bakersfield's 299 (South Carolina, 290).

ON THE DOCKET:

The Condors return to home ice this week for three games.

The Ontario Reign are in town Wednesday night for a St. Patrick's Day Celebration. Doors open at 5 p.m. for an early 6 p.m. start time. Fans can enjoy half-price beer in special Condors cups for Happy Hour, from 5 - 6 p.m., and $1 hot dogs throughout the night, sponsored by ABC23, 98.5 The Fox and Bud Light.

They take on the Victoria Salmon Kings in two games this weekend. Friday is Andrew Ianiero Bobblehead Night, sponsored by KGET-TV 17 and Goodwill Industries. The first 2,000 fans 12 and under will get a bobblehead of Condors Captain Andrew Ianiero.

Saturday is the annual Condors Fighting Cancer Hockey-Thon, sponsored by 29 Eyewitness News, KUZZ 107.9 and the Bakersfield Californian. There will be an alumni/celebrity game at 5 p.m., featuring former Condors such as Paul Rosebush, Jamie Cooke, Paul Willett, Scott Hay and more. Other local names hitting the ice that night include Californian scribe Mike Griffith, ABC23 anchor Chris Van Horne, City Manager Alan Tandy and more. Doors open at 4:45 p.m. The current club takes on Victoria at 7 p.m.
