Ottawa 67's News Release

Yesterday found our Ottawa 67's battling it out with the Peterborough Petes. After an exciting back and forth yet scoreless first period, our boys began to dominate in the second, where they scored two goals. The Petes were only able to comeback with one, leaving the score going into the third at 2-1. The last period was where our Ottawa 67's really shone, scoring three goals versus only one for the Petes, leaving the final score at 5-2 for our boys.

For more than 100 years, Scouting has helped boys and girls build their physical skills and to learn the importance of teamwork. Yesterday the Ottawa 67'swere delighted to pay tribute to scouting and founder Robert Baden Powell in honour of his 153rd birthday. Photographed above is representative from local scouting parties taking part in a ceremonial puck drop.

On the concourse yesterday afternoon was a joint charity effort by the Ottawa Mission and Easter Seals. The Ottawa mission was collecting socks for the homeless, and in case anyone forgot to bring socks to donate, the Easter Seals were selling some. It was great to see these two organizations working together. The photograph below was taken during the second period, when all our sock donators were busy watching our Ottawa 67's. For more information about the Mission please visit www.ottawamission.com and for the Easter Seals visit www.easterseals.org.

Both intermissions today featured a Future 67's game. All the players wowed fans with their unwavering skill and determination, and kept us all pumped during the break from watching our boys. Thanks to all the players who were involved!

Our Ottawa 67's are on the road next weekend, but will be returning Friday March 5 to take on the Barrie Colts. The countdown to playoffs has officially begun, and we'll be there throughout, writing from the stands.
