O'Connor Named OHL Defenseman of the Month

(Saginaw, MI) Saginaw Spirit defenseman Ryan O'Connor has been named the Ontario Hockey League's Defenseman of the Month for January 2010, following a campaign that saw the 18-year old skater post nine goals and six assists in 14 games. He was plus-2 for the month. O'Connor enters the week ranked 15th in scoring amongst OHL defenseman with 12 goals and 22 assists in 50 games this season. The Hamilton, Ontario native is eligible for the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

The announcement marks the third time this season that a Spirit player has been awarded a prestigious 'top performer of the month' award by the league, with forward Ivan Telegin having been named the OHL Rookie of the Month for October 2009 and November 2009.
