Rangers Edge Generals 7-6

The Kitchener Rangers edged the Oshawa Generals 7-6 before a crowd of 6,392 at The Aud.

The Rangers' scored three unanswered goals in the first period to jump into a 4-1 lead over the Generals. Matt Tipoff opened up the scoring at 4:10 with his 19th of the season. Jason Akeson, Michael Catenacci and Tipoff each followed up with a goal in under a minute of each other. Christian Thomas put Oshawa on the board with 42 seconds left in the period.

The Generals came out strong in the second period scoring three back to back goals by the 13:07 mark, two of which came on the power play to tie the game at 4-4. Jeff Skinner answered back for the Rangers with a short-handed goal at 14:39 to give them a 5-4 lead. Tyler Randell increased Kitchener's lead to 6-4 by the 15:45 mark with a power play goal. Thomas scored his second of the game with 50-seconds left in the period to bring the Generals within one goal of the Rangers (6-5).

The teams exchanged goals in the third period to close the game 7-6 Rangers. Micky Sartoretto scored for the Rangers, his third goal of the season. Jeff Brown scored for Oshawa.

The Rangers return home this Sunday, February 7th to host the Saginaw Spirit at 2:00pm.
