Aeros Coaching Staff Announced

AKRON, OH - The Akron Aeros are pleased to announce that they now have the remaining pieces of Joel Skinner's coaching staff filled for the 2010 season. The Cleveland Indians announced Friday that Greg Hibbard and Jim Rickon will round out the Aeros Coaching Staff. Hibbard, who has spent the previous two season as Pitching Coach at Kinston, will join the Aeros. Rickon, who spent the last three seasons with the Lake County Captains, will join the Aeros as Hitting Coach.

Hibbard spent the 2006 season with the Buffalo Bison (then the Triple-A Affiliate of the Cleveland Indians). As a part of Torey Lovullo's Kinston Indians coaching staff in 2004, Hibbard helped guide Kinston pitchers to a 3.73 ERA and the Carolina League Championship.

Rickon joins the 2010 squad after spending the last three seasons with the Lake County Captains (Class-A Affiliate of the Cleveland Indians). While a part of the Captains staff, Rickon helped guide the team to a total record of 210 wins to 205 losses. Rickon, a Cleveland State Alum, played in the Indians' minor league system from 1999-2001, two of those years were for the Akron Aeros as a catcher in '00 and '01.

Also announced Friday, the Aeros will welcome Chad Wolfe to Akron for the 2010 season. Wolfe will serve as the Aeros Athletic Trainer after being promoted from the Kinston Indians. Wolfe has been in the Cleveland Indians organization for eight seasons and in 2008 received the Carolina League Award for Trainer of the Year.

Lee May Jr., who spent the past three seasons with the Aeros, will be joining former Aeros Manager Mike Sarbaugh in Columbus as the Clippers Hitting Coach. May Jr. has been part of the Indians organization for seven seasons and was instrumental in helping the 2009 Aeros advance to their third championship since the 2003 seasons.

Michael Salazar, who spent the past three seasons with the Aeros, will be also receiving a promotion and will now become the Athletic Trainer for the Columbus Clippers. Salazar has been with the Indians organization for 10 years spending time in Kinston, Lake County, Mahoning Valley and Burlington.

The Aeros begin defense of their 2009 Eastern League Championship Thursday, April 8th against the Binghamton Mets in Binghamton, NY.
