Moncton Wildcats News Release

Look for Art on Ice displays starting today:

Community Schools, the Moncton Wildcats and Downtown Moncton have formed a partnership to bring you an exciting program called Art on Ice.

Art on Ice is designed to help raise much needed funds for Community School programs such as the Breakfast Programs, art programs and others.

Art students in grades 1 through 4 from 5 participating schools have created collaborative art pieces that will be on display at the Moncton Coliseum during Moncton Wildcats home games through the month of December starting with tonight's game against Lewiston. The works can also be seen at various Downtown Moncton businesses.

These pieces will be auctioned via a silent auction begins today and runs until the big New Year's Eve Rivalry Cup game between the Wildcats and Saint John Sea Dogs. The winners will be announced following that game.

Tonight's game ends Movember campaign:

The Wildcats players and male staff have enjoyed being part of the Movember campaign, designed to bring awareness to Prostate Cancer. The month long effort will end with tonight's game against the MAINEiacs. The campaign was extended to include tonight's game because of the flu problems encountered by the team at the beginning of November. Mustaches have been sported to bring attention to the fact that 1 in 6 men will get prostate cancer. Typically there are no symptoms until it's spread beyond the prostate. Regular screening is vital as prostate cancer is 90% curable if detected and treated early. Sadly 4,400 men will die from prostate cancer in Canada this year, don't let it be someone you know.
