Hamilton Tiger-Cats News Release

Hamilton, Ontario - Earlier today, the Canadian Football League announced the 2009 East and West Division All-Stars. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats would like to congratulate receiver Arland Bruce III, right tackle Dan Goodspeed, linebacker Markeith Knowlton and linebacker Jamall Johnson for earning spots on the East Division All-Star team.

Bruce finished the season with 88 receptions for 1,242 yards and 10 touchdowns. After arriving in Hamilton via trade on July 29, Bruce led the Ticats in receiving yards eight times. This is the fourth time Bruce has been named an East Division All-Star.

Goodspeed solidified the right side of the Ticats offensive line this season after landing in TigerTown in an offseason trade. Goodspeed's efforts helped the Ticats offence average 5.7 yards per carry and produce the team's first 1000-yard rusher, DeAndra' Cobb, since 2004. This is Goodspeed's third consecutive East Division All-Star nod.

Knowlton compiled one of the most impressive statistical campaigns in recent memory in 2009, finishing the season with 94 defensive tackles, four forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, four interceptions, two blocked kicks and one touchdown. Knowlton has now been named an East Division All-Star two straight years.

Johnson led the CFL with 108 defensive tackles this season, the second-highest single season total in Ticats history. The first-year Ticat also added two quarterback sacks, nine special teams tackles, two forced fumbles, three tackles for losses and one pass knockdown. This is Johnson's first All-Star honour.
