
Amerks Sign Jimmy Bonneau To Standard Player Contract

(Rochester, NY)... Rochester Americans Vice President of Hockey Operations Ted Nolan announced today that the team has signed forward Jimmy Bonneau (BAH-noh) to a standard player American Hockey League contract.
"Jimmy is the type of player whose character was necessary for this franchise to reestablish itself in the Rochester marketplace," Nolan said. "He brings enthusiasm, grit and hard work each night he plays and I know the fans certainly admire his style of play."
Bonneau, 24, earned the full-time roster spot after scoring one goal and accruing a team-high 54 penalty minutes in eight games this season with the Amerks. The hard-nosed forward currently ranks tied for 14th in the AHL in penalty minutes.
In 70 AHL games with Hamilton, Portland and Rochester, the Baie-Comeau, Quebec, native has two goal and six assists for eight points along with 240 PIM. An eighth-round selection (241st overall) by the Montreal Canadiens in 2003, the 6-foot-3, 220-pound forward has skated in 191 pro games, tallying 24 points (4+20) and 473 PIM.
Tonight, the Amerks can tie their franchise record 11-game winning streak, set back during 1984-85 season, with a win over the Hamilton Bulldogs. The 7:05 matchup can be heard live on SportsRadio 1280 WHTK and FM 107.3, Rochester's Sports Talk. Fans can also tune in to watch the game live on Time Warner Cable SportsNet Channel 26.
With a win over Hamilton and another over Portland on Thursday, the Amerks could re-write history and set a new franchise record for 12 straight wins. The Amerks established their team record for consecutive wins from October 11 to November 2, 1984.
