Charter TV3 To Broadcast First Of Nine Worcester Sharks Games On Wednesday

WORCESTER - Worcester Sharks President and CEO Michael T. Lehr announced today that the Worcester Sharks game on Wednesday, November 11th at 1:05p.m. will be the first of nine games aired on Charter TV3 for the 2009-10 season.

"The Worcester Sharks are pleased to team up with Charter TV3 once again this season," said Lehr. "Charter TV3 is a tremendous partner. They will provide our great fans with a terrific production of action packed Sharks' hockey throughout the season from the comfort of their own homes."

The game on Wednesday will air live on Charter TV3 beginning at 1:00p.m. A rebroadcast of the afternoon matinee game vs. the Lowell Devils will air again at 7:00p.m.

Worcester Sharks Broadcaster Eric Lindquist will be joined by the Sports Director of Charter TV3 Kevin Shea for the third straight season.

Kevin Shea is a 12-year veteran of the television station, which is based in Worcester, and owned by Charter Communications. Each weeknight, "Worcester News Tonight" viewers enjoy watching Kevin provide a variety of sports highlights and interviews focused on local schools and athletes. This includes the award-winning "Friday Night Football Frenzy" co-hosted by Kevin along with Andy Lacombe. Shea also provides play-by-play coverage of local high school and collegiate football and basketball games, plus Worcester Tornadoes baseball games.

Before the game, Shea will receive his James H. Ellery Memorial Award, presented annually by the AHL in recognition of outstanding media coverage of the AHL in three categories. The 2008-09 winners were the Winnipeg Free Press (in the newspaper category); NHL Home Ice on XM Satellite Radio (radio); and sports director Kevin Shea of Charter TV3 in Worcester, Mass. (television).

The James H. Ellery Memorial Awards, which were first presented in 1964, honor the late Mr. Ellery, who served the American Hockey League for 17 years as league secretary and publicity director.

The Sharks continue their four game home stand with an afternoon game vs. the Lowell Devils at 1:05p.m on Veterans Day. All veterans and current servicemen and women will receive a free ticket at the DCU Center Box Office on Wednesday with a Military and state ID. With every Wednesday game, Sharks fans that have lost their jobs will receive up to four tickets for their family with proof of unemployment and valid state ID. It's also Dollar Dog Wednesdays.... Hot dogs are only $1.00!!!
