Toronto Argonauts News Release

Toronto - While the playoffs are not in the cards for this year's Argos, the Double Blue still have the opportunity to be spoilers for their bitter rivals, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, this Friday at Rogers Centre, presented by Bet365.net. With kickoff at 7:00 p.m., the Argos can win back the Ballard Trophy after losing it to Hamilton last year for the first time since 2001. The Argos are 2-1 in 2009 against the Tabbies and a win on Friday will bring the Trophy back to its rightful home in Toronto.

The most popular halftime returns this Friday with the Wendy's Kick For A Million Final. Steven Olson of Edmonton, AB will face off against Eastern Canada semifinalist Paul Sinisi of Ajax, ON in the Wendy's Kick for a Million semifinal at Rogers Centre in Toronto on October 22 for a chance to kick for $1 million in TSN's fifth annual, international award-winning million-dollar giveaway. The winner of the semifinal will kick at halftime in front of the Argos fans. For the first time ever, the participant is guaranteed to walk away a winner as he will receive $1,000 for every yard kicked in the air during the 50-yard kick attempt if it falls short of splitting the uprights for the $1 million grand prize.

As part of the new Level The Playing Field program, sponsored by Tim Hortons, the Eastern Commerce Saints, who have taken the field for the first time since 1979, will be introduced with the Argos during player introductions. In its inaugural year, the program helped return football teams to four Toronto-area high schools with a $10,000 donation to each school. More than funding, Level The Playing Field features mentorship, education and events including Argos player ambassadors, cheerleader ambassadors, pep rallies and an Argos Game Day to honour each high school football team. Friday's 50/50 draw will benefit the programs of The Argos Foundation, including Level The Playing Field.

After the game, fans can pick up a Fisherman's Friend sample upon exiting the stadium at Gates 4, 5, 11 and 12. Supporters are also invited to join Argos players and the Argos Cheerleaders, presented by the Toronto Sun, at the Official Post-Game Party at Jack Astor's, 144 Front Street West, in downtown Toronto.

The Toronto Argonauts are North America's oldest professional football club, celebrating their 136th anniversary in 2009. As Toronto's #1 community team through player involvement, community programs and The Argos Foundation, the Toronto Argonauts, a member of the Canadian Football League (CFL), have 15 Grey Cup championships to their credit. The Toronto Argonauts are privately-owned by two Toronto-based businessmen. For 2009 season ticket and group sales packages, please contact the sales team at (416) 341-ARGO.
