Home Opening Weekend a Winner:

More than 10,000 fans helped the Wildcats celebrate the beginning of their 14th during Home Opening Weekend. With Tail Gate Parties on Friday night and Sunday afternoon, the Cats Cup, team introduction and Bar-B-Q on Saturday, the stage has been set for another outstanding season. The big crowd on Friday night gave 96 year old Meddy Cormier, a Second World War veteran, who played in the 1933 Memorial Cup, a standing ovation as he joined team President Robert K. Irving for the ceremonial puck drop.

Saulnier 's shot out goal brings victory:

Highly touted Allain Saulnier, one of the Cap-Pele twins scored on the Wildcats second shootout chance and sealed a 4-3 come from behind victory for the Cats on Friday night. On Sunday afternoon, it took 22 shooters before a winner was declared. Daniel Pettersson of the Wildcats ended the marathon skills competition as he beat Olivier Roy to give the Cats a 5-4 victory over Cape Breton Screaming Eagles.

Fans take home big bucks:

Three 50/50 draws made the weekend profitable for Wildcats fans. Danny Richard of Moncton was the winner of $4201.00 in Friday night's bonus draw, while Jamie Matthews of Amherst went home smiling with $4574.00 in his pocket. On Sunday afternoon, Tony Nelson of Moncton with a total of $2558.00 took the 50/50 jackpot.

The Cats are back at home on Friday, October 2nd at 7 pm when the team that eliminated from the playoffs last spring, the Rimouski Oceanic, will provide the opposition. On Saturday night, the established provincial rivalry continues when the Acadie-Bathurst Titan come to town. Be sure to have your tickets.

Cats on the road this week:

The Cats big team bus rolls down to Cape Breton this week for a Friday night return contest against the Screaming Eagles. Next Sunday, the Wildcats meet provincial rivals, the Saint John Sea Dogs in a 4 o'clock game at Harbour Station. Make the trek down to the port city and support our Wildcats. Tickets are available at the Harbour Station Box Office by calling 506-549-3200. If you can't make the game, join Les Stoodley on News 91.9 for the play by play action of both games.
