Keys Lead Advanced Class-A In Attendance
September 9, 2009 - Carolina League (CarL1)
Frederick Keys News Release
Frederick, MD - For the first time since 1994, the Frederick Keys, Advanced Class-A Affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, led the Carolina League in attendance as 293,438 fans passed through the gates at Harry Grove Stadium in 2009. The attendance figure is also tops in all of Advanced Class-A Baseball. It is the fifth time in franchise history the Keys have led the Carolina League in attendance doing so from 1991-1994.
"We aim to bring affordable family fun to our fans," Keys General Manager Dave Ziedelis said. "2009 was a great season for our organization with all of the new renovations and our outstanding promotional schedule. We are very thankful to all of our great fans."
In the last three years Harry Grove Stadium has received a facelift that has touched nearly every area of the ballpark. In 2007 a new field and reserved seating were installed. 2008 saw new lights and a fully renovated suite level including the Keys Café. And in 2009 Harry Grove Stadium received a new scoreboard, videoboard and sound system. The stadium was also brought up to standards with the Americans with Disabilities Act by renovating restrooms, the press box, installing a new elevator and ADA Field Level Seating including a Chair Lift.
The Keys welcomed its six millionth fan on the night it unveiled its brand new videoboard on Thursday, June 25th. The accomplishment came in the 20th year of Harry Grove Stadium, which opened its doors for a first time in 1990.
Whether in-game (on-field promotions), weekly (Kids Eat Free Monday), or a one-time event (Cancer Awareness Night) Harry Grove Stadium is host to over 400 promotional events over the course of its 70-game home schedule.
Advanced Class-A Baseball includes the Carolina League, Florida State League and California League. 30 teams are encompassed by the three leagues with each major league club having an affiliate.
