Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

The Albuquerque Isotopes, in partnership with the Taylor Hooton Foundation and the New Mexico Activities Association, will be hosting "Hoot's Chalk Talk" a free baseball clinic and information session for young people designed to spread awareness of the dangers of Performance Enhancing Drugs (PED) on Thursday, August 6 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at Isotopes Park.

The free clinic is open to all boys and girls ages 12-18 and will feature an information session educating them about the short and long-term physical and emotional effects of PED; a clinic where participants will rotate through different stations with Isotopes players, coaches, trainers, and nutritionists; as well as a free lunch and an autograph session. Each participant in the clinic will also get two tickets to see the 'Topes take on the Portland Beavers later that evening.

Space for the free clinic is limited, so those interested should contact Melissa Lee of the Albuquerque Isotopes at (505) 222-4001 or mlee@albuquerquebaseball.com by Thursday, July 30.

The Taylor Hooton Foundation was established to protect the youth of America by eliminating PED use. The foundation was formed in memory of Taylor Hooton, a 16 year-old high school athlete from Plano, Texas who took his own life on July 15, 2003 as a result of his abuse of anabolic steroids. Late last month, Isotopes owner Ken Young donated $10,000 to the foundation, demonstrating the 'Topes' commitment to the eradication of PED.

The 'Topes continue their road trip in Memphis before adjourning for the Triple-A All-Star Break. After the break, the Isotopes will host 20 games in 28 days. Tickets for any Isotopes game may be purchased at the Isotopes Park Box Office, at Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at 1-800-745-3000, or on-line at www.albuquerquebaseball.com or www.ticketmaster.com.
