Oklahoma City Comets News Release

TONIGHT: The Oklahoma City RedHawks begin a mega-series against the Iowa Cubs featuring 5 games in slightly less than 4 nights, with a split doubleheader on Saturday, in the final series before the All-Star break. Both teams were off yesterday in an off day created by Saturday's doubleheader. Iowa has won 4 of 6 meetings between these teams, taking 2 out of 3 July 1-3 at Des Moines and also June 15-16 at The Brick. Righthander Luis Mendoza gets the start for OKC, which is second, 2.5 games back of Albuquerque in the American South. Righthander Esmailin Caridad goes for Iowa, 3.5 games behind Nashville in the American North.

RUNS IN BUNCHES: After scoring 7 runs in their previous 6 games, OKC's offense came alive on Tuesday in a 12-2 win over Omaha to gain a split of the 4-game series. Two RedHawks, Joaquin Arias and Greg Golson, had 4-hit games. The RedHawks scored in double-digits for the eighth time this season and belted a season-high 3 triples (Chris Davis, Esteban German and Golson).

BORBON RETURNS: Outfielder Julio Borbon returns to the RedHawks today after being optioned on Tuesday. Borbon received his first Ranger promotion June 29 and played in 3 games, starting one, going 1-for-5 with one RBI. A roster move will be made today to make room for Borbon.

OKC's All-Star representative, German is eighth in the league in batting with a .323 average, is third in the PCL in on-base percentage at .428 and fourth in walks with 50.

Since being optioned most recently June 17, Madrigal has not allowed a run in 8 games and 7.1 innings.

HINCKLEY STREAKING: Left-handed reliever Mike Hinckley has pitched 10.1 consecutive scoreless innings over his last 5 outings.
