Montgomery Biscuits News Release
MONTGOMERY, AL - The Montgomery Biscuits will celebrate their parent-club, the American League Champion Tampa Bay Rays, with Rays Night at Riverwalk Stadium on Friday, July 17th as the Biscuits host the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx (Seattle Mariners) at 7:05 PM.
As part of the festivities, fans will have the chance to view the American League Championship Trophy, which will be on display at the ballpark and available for fans to take free photos with courtesy of Cumulus Broadcasting throughout the night. WSFA-12 also presents Rays' mascot Raymond, who will be on hand to entertain fans along with Big Mo during the celebration.
"Our fans have witnessed the current stars of the Rays as they were grooming for those roles here in Montgomery," said Biscuits' General Manager Greg Rauch. "We know that the American League Championship belongs in no small part to our great fans and we are thrilled to be able to bring the American League Championship Trophy to them."
The first 3,000 fans of all ages will receive the Alfa Insurance Collectible Poster Giveaway #2 featuring Evan Longoria on their way into the ballpark. The Biscuits will also be giving away hundreds of Rays' themed prizes throughout the ballgame. Included will be two autographed baseballs, one each signed by former Biscuits Andy Sonnanstine and Fernando Perez. The Biscuits will also give away an autographed picture of Longoria, the reigning American League Rookie of the Year and starting third baseman for the 2009 American League All-Star team.
The Biscuits will air video tributes to the relationship between the Biscuits and the Rays throughout the night along with highlights from the Rays Cinderella run to the American League Pennant in 2008.
"This community fully embraced the Rays' improbable run last year, and all of us have been swept up in Rays-mania," added Rauch. "It's going to be a lot of fun to get all of our Rays gear on and relive those memories and celebrate the phenomenal relationship we have fostered."
Additionally, the evening will end on a high-note as the Biscuits present a MAX Fireworks Spectacular following the ballgame.
