Jacksonville, Fla. - The Montgomery Biscuits (37-40, 4-3) scored three two-out runs in the ninth inning, rallying for a 6-5 victor y over the Jacksonville Suns (40-37, 5-2) in front of 2,813 Sunday afternoon at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.Montgomery reliever Rayner Oliveros (2-0) picked up the victory, dealing two and one-thirds scoreless innings while allowing only one hit. Suns reliever Matt Peterson (1-2) fell in the loss, allowing three runs and four hits in the ninth inning in his second blown save of the season.
The Biscuits took the lead in the top of the third inning against Suns starter Willie Glen as a Brandon Chaves triple scored Desmond Jennings for a 1-0 score. Jacksonville answered in the bottom of the inning when Bryan Petersen belted a two-out, two-run homerun to open a 2-1 Suns lead. Lorenzo Scott next drew a walk and would later come in to score on an error by Montgomery first baseman Matt Fields for a 3-1 score.
Montgomery tied the game in the fourth inning with two unearned runs after two Suns errors. Rashad Eldridge scored on a Nevin Ashley groundout and Drew Anderson scored on a Desmond Jennings infield single for a 3-3 score.
Jacksonville regained the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning when Lee Mitchell singled in Mike Stanton for a 4-3 lead. Later in the inning Ryan Klosterman doubled home Mitchell for a 5-3 score.
Suns starter Willie Glen left the game in line for the win after six innings.
Montgomery rallied in the ninth inning with=2 0two out against Matt Peterson, the Southern League leader in saves. Desmond Jennings singled with one out, and after a Chaves groundout, scored on a Fernando Cortez single to cut the Suns lead to 5-4. Matt Fields then grounded up the middle, and was awarded second base as Suns shortstop Tim Torres' throw flew into the first base dugout. With runners at second and third base, Rashad Eldridge doubled home both runners for a 6-5 Biscuits lead.
Suns LH Graham Taylor will face Biscuits LH Brandon Mann Monday at 12:05 p.m. in game two of the series at the Baseball Grounds.
