Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release
Appleton, WI - The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers are giving fans with peanut allergies a chance to enjoy a baseball game. The Timber Rattlers will hold their first ever peanut free night during their game against the West Michigan Whitecaps on Wednesday, July 8 at 7:05 p.m.
All peanuts and peanut products will be moved off site and the entire ballpark will be cleaned to remove as many of the leftover peanut shells as possible. Any product containing peanuts or nuts, including sunflower seeds, will not be sold during the games. Peanut free night also means no sunflower seeds for the players on the field.
"Peanuts are a huge part of attending a baseball game," said Timber Rattlers President Rob Zerjav. "But, some fans can not come out to the ballpark because of a peanut allergy. We hope to give these fans and families a chance to attend a baseball game without worrying about their allergy."
Even though peanuts and products made with nuts or peanut oil will not be sold, the Timber Rattlers can not guarantee that all peanut residue will be out of the ballpark.
"In addition to our normal stadium cleaning, we plan to power wash the entire concourse and seating bowl," said Zerjav. "Even with all of our precautions, we can't promise there won't be any peanut residue; we can only do everything possible to limit the exposure."
To order tickets for this game, fans may contact the Timber Rattler ticket office at 1-800-WI-TIMBER or (920) 733-4152; stop by the Time Warner Cable Field box office; or purchase tickets through www.timberrattlers.com.
