Lancaster Stormers News Release
LANCASTER, Pa.-Call it a winter of content so far at the Ice Park at Clipper Magazine Stadium. The popular ice skating rink, presented by Lancaster County Motors Hyndai/Subaru, welcomed the largest weekend crowd in its three-year history Thursday through Sunday.
More than 1,500 skaters enjoyed the rink January 22 through January 25, breaking the previous record of 1,438 set in 2007. More than 2,700 skaters visited the rink during the week between Christmas and New Year's, typically the busiest week during the Ice Park's winter schedule.
"We're getting lots of positive comments from skaters, particularly about our open skating times this season," Barnstormers general manager Vince Bulik said. "If the weather cooperates, it's very possible that we'll set a new attendance record this winter."
Lancaster's only outdoor skating rink attracted more than 25,000 skaters in its first two seasons.
