Long Island Ducks News Release
(Central Islip, N.Y., Jan. 26, 2009) - In conjunction with the Long Island Ducks' 10th Anniversary Season and festivities, team officials today announced that the club's All-Time Team will be revealed during the 2009 season. This collection of Ducks greats over the team's first decade of existence will be determined by equal parts fan polling, field staff and media voting.
"Part of the appeal of Ducks baseball from Day One has been the players themselves," says Ducks general manager Michael Pfaff. "From the former big leaguers that have passed through the clubhouse to the local players who became fan and community favorites, our history has been marked by several players who have been a credit to this organization and helped establish it as Long Island's hometown team."
In the coming weeks, the Fowl Poll on the www.liducks.com homepage will feature the nominees for the All-Time Team, arranged by position. A different position will be highlighted each week, with fan voting to help determine which player is named to the roster. Results will be announced prior to the start of the 2009 season, and will be featured in the 2009 Ducks Commemorative Yearbook.
The Long Island Ducks play their home games at Citibank Park, and are entering their 10th Anniversary Season in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. Season ticket packages for 2009 are currently available. For further information, visit www.liducks.com, or call (631) 940-3825.
