Chiefs take 4-1 win over Bruins

Spokane scored four power play goals with Stefan Ulmer collecting a pair in the Chiefs 4-1 win over the Chilliwack Bruins on Wednesday night in the Spokane Arena. The win snapped a three game losing streak, their longest of the season, and gave the Chiefs their 23rd win, including their 15th at home.
Tyler Johnson had a goal and two assists and Mitch Wahl had a goal in their first game back since playing for the United States at the World Junior Hockey Championship. Drayson Bowman, who also played for the U.S., took a detour to his hometown of Littleton, Colorado before returning to Spokane and is expected to be in the line up on Saturday night. Dustin Tokarski is also spending time in his hometown of Watson, Saskatchewan after winning the gold medal for team Canada.
Ulmer scored the only goal of the first on a slap shot at 12:40 with Seth Compton and Johnson assisting. Wahl took a goal mouth pass at 12:57 from Johnson at 12:57 of the second to tally his team leading 17th of the season and Spokane had a 2-0 lead through 40- minutes.
Jared Cowen and Jared Spurgeon assisted on Johnson's goal at 2:58 of the third and Ulmer finished the scoring with another slapper at 4:03 of the final frame.
James Reid was 3:20 away from collecting his fourth blanking of the season when the Bruins ruined his shutout bid with their lone goal late in the third. Chilliwack's goal was also on the power play as they went 1-5 on the man advantage.
Spokane outshot Chilliwack 28-18 and finished the night 4-5 on the power play.
Wednesday's game was the second of four in a row at home in the Arena as they host the Everett Silvertips on Saturday night on Championship Jersey Giveaway presented by Miller Brewing Company, 93.7 the Cat and KAYU Fox 28.
