Amarillo Gorillas News Release

Amarillo, TX 12/22/08 - Though it is long way from New England, Amarillo may feel a lot like home for Sam Ftorek and family on Tuesday night.

With the holidays right around the corner, Ftorek's extended family has made their way to Amarillo for the Gorillas' game Tuesday night against the Colorado Eagles. Ftorek is Amarillo's captain, and currently leads the Gorillas in points and the Central Hockey League in defense scoring.

Brother Casey and father Robbie Ftorek both came to Amarillo late last week, and attended the team's season ticket holder Christmas party on Sunday. Robbie, a former NHL head coach with the Los Angeles Kings, New Jersey Devils, and Boston Bruins, helped coach the team in practice Monday morning and will drop the ceremonial first puck Tuesday night.

Meanwhile, Casey (who played collegiate hockey at Union College in New York) will be signed by the Gorillas prior to the Tuesday tilt. After an injury to Nate Hagemo, Gorillas Head Coach Tom Coolen was in need of an additional player-enter Casey, who practiced with the team late last week and early Monday. It will be the first professional game for the younger Ftorek, whose brother Sam has played over ten years as a pro.

Sam's sister Anna Ftorek will be helping the Gorillas out in a different way. The talented sibling will sing the National Anthem prior to face-off at center ice. Rounding out the festivities will be Sam's grandfather, who is planning to watch the game from the stands of the Amarillo Civic Center.

General admission tickets for the game are just $7, and are available by visiting the Gorillas front office at 901 S. Buchanan in Amarillo or any Panhandle Tickets outlet in the Amarillo metro area. Tickets may also be purchased by phone at (806) 242-PUCK (7825), or online at www.panhandletickets.com.

Enjoy all the benefits of being an Amarillo Gorillas season ticket holder, including pregame meetings with Coach Coolen and one-of-a-kind access to special events! Gorillas season tickets for 2008-09 are still available by calling (806) 242-PUCK (7825) or by visiting the Gorillas office at 901 Buchanan in Amarillo.
