Mudbugs and Brahmas Collide Tuesday
December 22, 2008 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release
BOSSIER CITY, LA - Tomorrow night is the perfect opportunity for a little pre-holiday fun at CenturyTel Center with an exciting night of Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs hockey! The Mudbugs battle the rival Texas Brahmas at 7:05 pm Tuesday, so there is sure to be plenty of action as the teams meet for the seventh time this season.
The Mudbugs will no doubt be looking for some revenge against Texas in tomorrow night's game, which is presented by International Used Truck Center of Shreveport. Since Bossier-Shreveport's dominant 5-1 home victory over the Brahmas on CHL opening night, Texas has seized control of this bitter rivalry. The Brahmas have beaten the Mudbugs five straight times, but just one of those games was played in Bossier City. Texas has won three games by a single goal against the Bugs, including one in overtime and another in a shootout. The Mudbugs will have payback in mind, and both teams will definitely be fired up for this rivalry game, although it may be a little lacking in holiday cheer and good will towards men.
The Bugs are coming off last weekend's home-and-home series with Tulsa in which they knocked off the Oilers twice. The Mudbugs rallied from a 3-2 deficit after two periods to beat Tulsa 4-3 in a shootout on Friday, aided by two goals from Travis Clayton, three points from Joe Blaznek and the goaltending of Jon Horrell. The next night in Tulsa, the Oilers again led by a goal after the second period, but Bossier-Shreveport scored four goals in the final period to earn a 5-2 victory. Horrell again got the win in net, while Neil Clark, Chris Brassard, Brett Smith and Dale Lupul all had two points for the Bugs. The Mudbugs have now won four of their last five and sit in third place in the Northern Conference at 15-7-2 (32 pts) on the season.
Texas is coming off a three-game set in Arizona in which they won twice, including a convincing 8-3 drubbing of the Sundogs on Saturday night. The Brahmas bring a record of 15-8-3 (33 pts) into Tuesday's contest, putting them third in the Southern Conference.
Individual tickets for the game are available through Ticketmaster at 318-741-9700. For group ticket packages or more information about other great Mudbugs ticket offers, like the Mudbugs Holiday 6-Pack, call 318-752-BUGS or stop by the team office inside CenturyTel Center.
