Admirals Fly Past Aeros in Shoot-Out

Milwaukee, WI - Drew MacIntyre made 17 saves during regulation and overtime and then stopped four of five Houston shooters to help lead the Admirals to a 2-1 shoot-out win over the Aeros on Wednesday night at the Bradley Center. The win was the sixth straight for Milwaukee.

Houston got on the board first when they converted on their fourth power-play opportunity of the game at 3:57 of the opening stanza. Mike Hamilton was in the right place at the right time when he gathered in the rebound of a Corey Locke shot and beat MacIntyre for his first goal of the season. Morten Madsen also assisted on the play.

Exactly 20 minutes later the Admirals would tie the score with a power-play goal of their own when Alexander Sulzer notched his fifth tally of the season. With a five-on-three advantage for the Admirals just expired, Sulzer fired a rocket from just inside the blueline that got by a screened Barry Brust and leveled the score at one. Robert Dietrich and Mike Santorelli picked up the assists on the play.

The third period saw no score, but it certainly wasn't for a lack of chances. The best opportunity came for the Ads when Paul Albers was whistled for delay of game penalty just 27 seconds into a Tomas Mojzis hooking penalty, setting up 1:33 of 5-on-3 time for Milwaukee. The Admirals fired five shots at Brust during the power-play, but he turned aside each one and sent the game into OT, where neither team score.

In the shoot-out the Aeros took a 1-0 lead when Corey Locke converted on Houston's first attempt, while Santorelli was denied by Nolan Schaffer, who came on as the Houston netminder for just the shoot-out. Milwaukee's Stephen Werner tied the score at one during the third round and Andreas Thuresson put the Ads up 2-1 when he went up high to beat Schaffer in the fifth. Hamilton had a chance to extend the shoot-out as he followed Thuresson, but the Houston forward didn't get off a shot and the Admirals came away with the win.

The victory improved MacIntyre's record to 12-5-1 and upped his shoot-out mark to 3-1. The assist for Santorelli extended his point scoring streak to 13 games and his assist streak to eight contests.

The Admirals will travel to Grand Rapids for a pair of contests with the Griffins on Friday and Saturday before hosting the Iowa Chops on Sunday at 4:00 pm at the Bradley Center.
