Tom McCollum Grand & Toy Player of the Week

(GUELPH) The Guelph Storm announced today that goaltender Tom McCollum is the Grand & Toy Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, December 7th. 

McCollum posted a shutout streak of over 141 minutes this weekend including the 10th shutout of his career on Friday night against the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors. Thursday in Windsor, McCollum surrendered two goals in the first period at 12:08 and 15:25 in the 2-1 loss versus the top ranked Spitfires.  His shutout streak would continue through Friday's win before finally ending on Sunday afternoon at 17:06 of the second period in the Storm's 6-2 victory over the Kitchener Rangers.

In three games this weekend, the 19 year had a record of 2-1 with a goals against average of 1.33 and a save percentage of 0.956. He was also awarded with the second star of the game on Thursday in Windsor and first star for his shutout on Friday at the Sleeman Centre.

Named to backstop Team USA at the World Junior Championships in Ottawa later this month, the Sanborn NY native currently sits second and third in league standing for goals against average and save percentage with 2.19 and 0.928 respectively.

Next up, McCollum and the rest of the Storm have another three game weekend this week hosting the Plymouth Whalers at home on Friday night before traveling to Owen Sound on Saturday night and Kitchener on Sunday.
