Kane County Cougars News Release
GENEVA, IL - Embarking on their 19th season of Major League-affiliated baseball, the Kane County Cougars have announced their 2009 game schedule, presented by Provena Mercy Medical Center.
Kane County opens the '09 campaign in Central Illinois, visiting the Peoria Chiefs for a three-game series beginning on Thursday, April 9 at 6:30 p.m. The Cougars' home opener starts a new chapter in the organization's proud history on Monday, April 13 at 3 p.m. against the Burlington Bees as the Elfstrom Stadium renovation project will be unveiled. Beginning next April, the renovated home of the Cougars will feature a new element for fan enjoyment including luxury suites, rooftop patio areas, a super suite and covered concourse.
Cougars fans will be wowed by various entertainment acts, unique promotions and popular theme nights from start to finish in 2009. Thirty of the 70 regular season home games include a dazzling post-game fireworks show, which have consistently been a crowd favorite each season. Fans can welcome various nationally-recognized entertainment acts who will descend upon Elfstrom Stadium to perform during games. Entertainers such as The Zooperstars, Rubber Boy and Jake the Diamond Dog have each been featured on network television within the past year and all make multiple visits to Geneva in 2009. On Friday, August 14, the Cougars will bring Quick Change to Elfstrom Stadium for their first and only visit. The talented duo will perform their unique show - a continuous and stunning transformation of rapid-fire costume changes that is sure to bring a magical element to the ballpark for one night.
Popular theme nights return in full force as well in 2009. The Memorial Day holiday weekend (May 22-25) includes both scout and family campouts at the ballpark. Father's Day (June 21), a pre-Independence Day celebration (July 3), Peanut Free Night (July 8), Jimmy Buffett Day (Aug. 9) and Bark in the Park (Aug. 24) are all theme night staples that fans will enjoy this season.
Ticket prices for the 2009 season will remain the same - $12 for box seats, $10 for reserved seating and $8 for a general admission lawn ticket. Seven Friday games (June through August) have been designated as "Prime Home Games" while seven Saturday games (June through September) are noted as "Premium Home Games".
Individual tickets for the 2009 season will go on sale to the general public at Elfstrom Stadium on Saturday, November 22 at 8:30 a.m. Once again this season, fans will have the opportunity to come to the Cougars' home and have the first chance to purchase tickets for the games of their choice. The unique event has routinely brought fans to the ballpark in the early hours - the first fan in line for Cougars tickets arrived outside Elfstrom Stadium at 3 a.m. last season.
Fans can currently pre-order tickets by mail, internet (www.kccougars.com), fax, phone or in-person at the ballpark. All pre-orders will be processed beginning Monday, November 24 at 9 a.m. in the order they were received. That morning the Cougars will begin accepting all ticket orders.
Beginning in 2009, gates will open one hour before game time for all home games during the week, with the exception of April/May noon games, weekday holidays including Memorial Day, Labor Day and July 3, as well as Opening Day. Gates for these games, in addition to all weekend games played throughout the season, will open 2 hours before game time.
Fans can visit www.kccougars.com to view and download a 2009 schedule, see the promotional calendar and to request a free pocket schedule to be mailed to them when they arrive.
