Simpson was instrumental in moving the Raiders franchise from the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League to the Western Hockey League in 1983

He went on to be a head coach in the NHL with the New York Islanders, Winnipeg Jets and Philadelphia Flyers. Simpson is now retired and resides in Saskatoon.

The Raiders Alumni put forward names of players from two eras of teams - from the SJHL and WHL for induction onto the wall:

Theran Welsh

Theran Welsh played 3 years for the Raiders from 1974-77 culminating in leading the Raiders to their first Centennial Cup in 1977, as Captain. Welsh was one of 3 Raiders named to the Centennial Cup All-Star Team as they swept the Pembroke (Ont.) Lumber Kings in 4 straight games, including the clinching 4-3 win at the Comuniplex. Welsh says one of the highlights for him was when the 76-77 team was named the Prince Albert Sportsmen of the Year.

Welsh is now the Principal of the Certified Public Accountants firm of SVA in Madison, Wisconsin.

Emanuel Viveiros

The defensive core of the 1985 Memorial Cup Championship team was led by Emanuel Viveiros. "Viv" played 251 games as a Raider from 1982-86 amassing 60 goals and 261 assists for 321 points, an average of over 1 and a quarter points per game. In 1985-86 Viveiros was named the Deefenceman of the Year and Player of the Year in the Eastern Conference.

Viveiros was selected in the 6th round of the 1984 Entry Draft, 106th overall by the Edmonton Oilers. His NHL rights were subsequently traded to the Minnesota North Stars with whom he appeared in 29 games from 1985-88 with 1 goal and 11 assists.

He went on to play in the American Hockey League with Springfield and International Hockey League with Kalamazoo and Albany until the early 1990's. Viveiros then enjoyed a 15 year career playing in Europe. Currently Viveiros is coaching in Austria.

Tickets for the Wall of Honour game Saturday, November 15 when the Raiders host the Red Deer Rebels are available at the Raider Office.
