Beach Bums Announce 2009 Schedule

TRAVERSE CITY, MI - The 2009 Frontier League schedule has been released and the Traverse City Beach Bums will start on the road with a three game series against the Kalamazoo Kings on Friday, May 22nd at Homer Stryker Field in Kalamazoo.

The Beach Bums then return home for a six game homestand on Tuesday, May 26th against the Southern Illinois Miners. The Beach Bums will have a total 48 home games including twenty-six (26) weekend dates with nine (9) Fridays, eight (8) Saturdays, and nine (9) Sunday games. Monday through Saturday game times will be 7:05 PM; Sunday games will start at 5:35 PM.

The front office staff is working on the upcoming promotional schedule which will be highlighted by ten (10) FANtastic Fireworks nights including the Beach Bums' Annual 4th of July Veterans Celebration. Sunday nights will once again be Family Fun Nights with kids running the bases after the game and all fans enjoying the Beach Bums autograph session in front of the clubhouse. For the second year in a row the Beach Bums will end their season at home against their division and in-state rivals, the Kalamazoo Kings. While the West Division remains the same in 2009, the East Division will have a slightly different makeup. The Midwest Sliders will call Oestrike Stadium in Ypsilanti, MI, home, while their stadium is in the planning & construction stage. The Chillicothe Paints have ceded their spot in the East Division to a new team in Avon, OH. The Avon Professional Baseball Group is currently challenging their fans to help them name the team.

Season tickets are now on sale and can be reserved by calling 231-943-0100 or by visiting the clubhouse offices at Wuerfel Park. Full season, as well as mini-season packages are available with special pricing if reserved before December 25, 2008.
