Rascals Release 2009 Schedule

O'Fallon, MO - The 2009 Frontier League schedule is set and the River City Rascals will open the home season on Saturday, May 23 against the Gateway Grizzlies.

The 2009 campaign will mark the eleventh season of Rascals baseball at T.R. Hughes Ballpark in O'Fallon, Missouri. The team celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2008 with a 47-49 overall record. One thing the team did accomplish was to take the season series, 7-5, over the Grizzlies and reclaim the Cross Town Clash Trophy.

But the home opener will be unlike any other for the Rascals in 2009. Yes, it will be against their cross-town rivals, but the May 23 date will include a day/night doubleheader with games at both team's home ballparks.

The Rascals will begin the day with a 1:00 p.m. start at T.R. Hughes Ballpark before traveling across the Mississippi River and visit GCS Ballpark at 7:05 p.m. A second day/night doubleheader will be held on Saturday, August 29 with the action first beginning in Sauget at 1:00 p.m. before heading to O'Fallon at seven o'clock.

The first home stand will begin on May 26 against the Florence Freedom and unlike last year's 51 home game schedule, the Rascals will play host to 48 regular season games with the Midwest Sliders finding their own home ballpark in Ypsilanti.

Another change from 2008 to 2009 will be that the gates to the ballpark will now be opened 90 minutes before first pitch instead of 60 minutes.

May 29 - 31 vs. Washington

June 2 - 4 @ Florence

June 5 - 7 @ Washington

June 10 - 11 vs. Gateway

June 12 - 14 vs. Evansville

June 15 - 17 @ Windy City

June 18 - 20 @ Evansville

June 21 - 23 vs. Windy City

June 25 - 26 @ Gateway

June 27 - 29 vs. Southern Illinois

June 30 - July 2 @ Evansville

July 3 - 5 vs. Rockford

July 7 - 9 @ Midwest

July 10 - 12 @ Evansville

July 17 - 19 vs. Midwest

July 20 - 22 vs. Avon

July 23 - 25 @ Windy City

July 26 - 28 vs. Rockford

July 29 - 31 @ Southern Illinois

August 1 - 3 @ Rockford

August 4 - 6 vs. Southern Illinois

August 7 - 9 vs. Windy City

August 11 - 13 @ Kalamazoo

August 14 - 16 @ Traverse City

August 18 - 20 vs. Kalamazoo

August 21 - 23 vs. Traverse City

August 25 - 27 @ Rockford

August 28 - 30 vs. Gateway* (August 29 @ Gateway @ 1:00 p.m.)

September 1 - 3 vs. Evansville

September 4 - 6 @ Southern Illinois
