Phantoms Announce 08-09 Promotional Schedule

October 1, 2008 - American Hockey League (AHL) Adirondack Phantoms

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Phantoms today released the promotional schedule for the team's final season at the historic Wachovia Spectrum. The 40-game slate is packed full of special events, appearances and giveaways that will pay tribute to the venerable building, honor various people and groups and help fans Remember the Spectrum during its last campaign.

The season begins on October 10 when the Phantoms host the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at 7:05 PM. The evening will feature several special events that will be announced later this week.

On October 17, the Phantoms will celebrate their previously-announced "VP Night," which pays tribute to vice-presidential candidates Joe Biden and Sarah Palin. The evening includes half-price admission to all Delaware residents, Alaska residents, and mothers who bring their kids to the game; free admission to anyone named Piper, Willow, Bristol, Track, Trig, Hunter, Beau or Ashley; a mudslinging booth, soapboxes on the concourse, and much more.

Over the course of the season, the Phantoms will honor the first four decades in which the building existed. A '60s Night will take place on November 2nd, a '70s Night on Dec. 17, an '80s Night on Jan. 18 and a '90s Night on March 21. On all four occasions, fans will be encouraged to dress in the fashions of the decade being honored, and some of the greatest events from each decade will be remembered on those particular nights.

As has been the case in the past, the Phantoms will host several evenings where they'll ask their fans to support various causes. On November 14, the Phantoms will be collecting children's books for charity. November 21 is the annual Shake Your Mac Night, where fans are asked to bring boxes of macaroni and cheese to use as noisemakers during the game and donate to area food banks afterwards. The team will hold two Toys for Tots nights, on December 19 and 20, and fans can donate Christmas gifts they don't need to charity at a special Boxing Day game on December 26. The annual Teddy Bear Toss is on February 6.

The Phantoms have several great giveaways lined up and others in the planning stages. On April 5, the first 5,000 fans will receive a bottle containing actual ice, in its liquid form, from the Wachovia Spectrum courtesy of Wachovia. Among the other great giveaways are the 2008-09 magnet schedules to the first 10,000 fans on Opening Night courtesy of Toyota, the 2008-09 trading card set to the first 4,000 fans 14 and under on December 26 courtesy of Pepsi, and youth t-shirt jerseys to the first 3,000 kids 14 and under on March 20, courtesy of Comcast.

Many popular Phantoms traditions will continue this season. The annual Photo Night will take place on the Spectrum ice on February 8, and the team's annual Skate with the Players is set for February 28. Scout Weekend is December 5-6, and the Phantoms will celebrate Phlex's birthday on January 24. Phantoms Hall of Fame Night will be on November 15.

Additional promotional evenings and details on the final regular season game on April 12 will be announced in the future. Among the coming announcements are the team's specialty jersey lineup, which will include a Spectrum-themed jersey.

The Phantoms will begin the 2008-09 American Hockey League season, their final regular season at the Wachovia Spectrum, on Friday, Oct. 10 against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. Comcast-Spectacor recently announced that the Wachovia Spectrum will close after the Phantoms conclude their 2008-09 season. The Spectrum opened on September 30, 1967 with the Quaker City Jazz Festival. After nearly 30 seasons of Philadelphia Flyers hockey and Philadelphia 76ers basketball, the Spectrum gave way to the Wachovia Center in 1996.

The best way for fans to secure a ticket for the final game on April 12, 2009 is to purchase either a game plan package or season tickets. Packages are available now in convenient blocks of 6, 10, 16, 20 and 40 games. Receiving an impressive list of exclusive benefits, discount prices and the same seat for each game begins at just $60!
