
Red Bulls Midfielder Dave Van Den Bergh To Undergo Hernia Surgery

SECAUCUS, NJ (September 16, 2008) - Red Bull New York announced today that midfielder Dave van den Bergh will undergo surgery in Munich, Germany, on Friday, Sept. 19 to repair a sports hernia. Dr. Ulrike Muschaweck, the surgeon, will perform a Minimal Repair Technique, which is a procedure developed and performed exclusively by Muschaweck.
Van den Bergh will travel to Munich on Wednesday and is expected to miss 2-3 weeks.
The Dutchman is currently second in the team in goals with six and most recently scored the game-winner in New York's come-from-behind 2-1 win against Real Salt Lake on Sept. 13 at Giants Stadium. Now in his second season with the Red Bulls, van den Bergh has started in 22 games, tallying three assists.
