Chattanooga Lookouts News Release

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Lookouts combined to hit four homers en route to a 9-3 win over the Jacksonville Suns in Thursday night action at AT&T Field.

Jacksonville got off to the early lead, courtesy of a Rusell Mitchell three-run blast in the first inning. Back-to-back solo shots by Justin Turner and Chris Valaika in the bottom of the second for the Lookouts helped negate Mitchell's blast.

Chattanooga scored two more runs in the third frame to take the 4-3 lead. Michael DeJesus began the inning with a solo shot. With two outs, Tonys Gutierrez drew a walk and used his speed to swipe second. Justin Turner followed with a single to center to bring home Gutierrez.

The Lookouts added three more insurance runs in the fifth with a less efficient approach than previously implemented. Drew Anderson and Danny Dorn began the inning with singles. Gutierrez then hit deep fly ball to right center, which was dropped by right fielder Jamie Hoffman, allowing the two runners to score and Gutierrez to reach second. Turner added to the damage with an RBI single to right.

The Lookouts kept rolling in the seventh. Dorn hit homer number 19 of the season with one out. Gutierrez then reached first on a fielding error by first baseman Kelly Gulledge. After a wild pitch by Anthony Tomey, Chris Valaika singled to put the score at 9-3.

Pedro Viola (3-7) earned the win by throwing six innings of three-run ball. He struck out two and yielded just five hits and one walk during the outing.

Jesus Rodriguez (4-5) took the loss, surrendering seven runs (five earned) on 10 hits and one walk in five frames. Chattanooga will continue their five-game homestand against the Jacksonville Stars at 7:15 P.M., tomorrow. The Tickets for these games or any other Lookouts home game can be purchased at the Lookouts Box Office at AT&T Field, online at www.lookouts.com, or by calling (423) 267-4849.
