PEORIA, IL- The Peoria Chiefs in conjunction with the Chicago Cubs have promoted right-handed pitcher Casey Coleman to High-A Daytona in the Florida State League. The club also announced that outfielder Cliff Andersen will come off the disabled list and be in the lineup Thursday when the Chiefs host Wild Card leading Cedar Rapids at 7:00 PM.

Coleman, who was selected in the 15th round of this June's draft out of Florida Gulf Coast University, had a brief but successful stint in Peoria. He joined the Chiefs on July 28 and made five starts while posting a 2-2 record with a 2.70 ERA. In 23 1/3 innings the 21-year-old struck out 18 and walked just four. In his final appearance with the Chiefs on August 18 against Clinton he took a no-decision. He pitched five innings and allowed four runs, three of which were earned, on six hits while striking out four and walking one. His best start in a Chiefs uniform came on August 2 against South Bend when he allowed just one run on two hits over five innings while striking out six and not issuing a walk en route to his first Midwest League victory. After the draft Coleman was assigned to the Boise Hawks in the Northwest League. In seven appearances, four of which were starts, Coleman went 1-1 with a 4.05 ERA. He struck out 24 batters and walked seven over 26 2/3 innings while limiting the opposition to a .257 average against him.

Andersen, who is third on the team in games played with 96, was hitting .220 along with three home runs and 21 RBI prior to being placed on the disabled list with a strained left calf. He also collected 13 doubles, three triples and stole nine bases in 13 attempts. In his last game on August 13 he went 0-3 with a strikeout in a 3-2 loss to the Timber Rattlers. Peoria's final homestand of the season begins Thursday as they host the Cedar Rapids Kernels who currently lead the Chiefs by five games in the Wild Card race. On Friday, August 22 the first 2,000 fans through the gates will receive a Scoreboard Man Bobblehead presented by Prairie Home Alliance. The two teams will play four games before Clinton comes to O'Brien Field for the final two home games of the regular season for the Chiefs on August 27 and 28. Tickets are available for all remaining Chiefs home games by going online to the Chiefs website at www.peoriachiefs.com or by visiting the O'Brien Field Box Office.
